- Born in Genova, Italy, on October 10, 1959. High School Diploma at the Marist Brothers' High School "M.Champagnat" at the fourth year of the five year course with honors degree of 60/60. Medical Degree in 1983 at Genova's University Medical School with marks of 110/110 cum laude, with diverse internships in the U.K. during the medical school. (Manchester 1979, Oxford 1980, Cambridge 1981, Stoke Mandeville 1982).

- Military Service as Officer in the Italian Navy: Head Medical Officer of the Naval College: "Francesco Morosini" in Venice, then Assistant Surgeon in the General Surgery Department of the Naval Hospital of La Spezia, and assigned on different occasions to active service onboard ships

- Board certified (Specialist) in General Surgery at the University of Pavia with top degree of 70/70. Board certified (Specialist) in Plastic Surgery at the University of Torino with top degree of 70/70. Certified with honors with the “"Diplome d'Universite' de formation permanente en Chirurgie Plastique de la Face" at the University of Nancy, France. ECFMG certification (equivalent to the "American National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) Examinations”) obtained in 1966, with medical degree accreditation in the United States.

Has led diverse volunteer Plastic Surgery missions to underpriviledged countries (Bosnia Herzegovina: a total of four months in Zenica in 1995 and 1996, as Expert of the Ministery of Foreign Affairs, founding a plastic surgery dept.) (West Bank, and Gaza: six missions to present date).

Author or co-author of 232 papers and talks, on national and international journals and at national and international meeting venues. (including 29 papers on international journals, 5 monographs and 5 book chapters). Moderator, Chairman, Panelist or Invited Speaker at many meetings concerning the field of reconstructive or aesthetic surgery. Organizer of 12 courses with live surgery In recent years at the Ospedali Riuniti in Bergamo, with international guest surgeons. Especially, in the last few years, he has lectured widely nationally and internationally on the topic of open, primary and secondary, septorhinoplasty.

Has co-directed the "First Bergamo Open Rhinoplasty Course" in Bergamo on November 28-29, 2008, an international intensive course specifically devoted to open rhinoplasty. The second edition of the course is due for March 11-13, 2010.

With over 7000 cases to present date, he has been and is active in general reconstructive plastic surgery, with strong emphasis on flap reconstruction in the head & neck, lower and upper extremity, trunk and perineum, including microsurgery. In recent years, his interest has predominantly focused on breast and lower extremity reconstruction, also due to the large local increment of breast cancer cases. In private practice, he is involved with a vast scope of cosmetic surgery, with predominant focus on breast and rhinoseptoplasty. The latter subspecialty has especially grown in recent years, with a special interest in complex secondary and tertiary cases.
